Counselors

Canfield’s counselors, Mrs. Bufalo and Mrs. McLain, are available every day to assist students, parents, and school staff in a variety of ways. The counselors’ doors are always open.

Here is a sampling of their activities on a typical day:

  • Making referrals to community resources: private counseling, North Idaho Behavioral Health, Child Protective Services, domestic violence assistance, and law enforcement
  • Support in academic areas: scheduling classes for individual needs, transitioning students to alternative programs, parent-teacher conferences, registration of new students, conferencing with students who are failing, and attendance concerns
  • Teaching 6th Grade Exploratory as a way to be introduced to each of our 6th grade students. Topics covered include Bullying Prevention and Substance Abuse Prevention.
